Abstract:

With the research and scholarly publications that already exist, providing strong evidence for the auspicious effects of mahä-mantra japa on reducing stress and depression, and enhancing life satisfaction, as well as the more recent research and publication of Damerla et. al., indicating the healthful effects of mahä-mantra japa on heart health, there is abundant opportunity for students, researchers and practitioners in mental health, social services and medical fields to integrate mahä-mantra japa chanting, on an increasingly evidence-based foundation, into their practices and studies, as has already been done in recent decades with other meditation methods.
