Richard L. Thompson Lecture Series

The Bhaktivedanta Institute for Higher Studies is hosting an ongoing lecture series based on the books of Richard L. Thompson (Sadaputa dasa) at the BIHS Headquarters in Gainesville, FL, on alternate Saturdays at 11am – 12:30 pm EST (see schedule below for dates)

Six of Thompson’s books will be covered chapter by chapter with a lecture summarizing the contents and highlighting the chapter’s essential messages, followed by a discussion session. Having completed his first two books, Mechanistic and Nonmechanistic Science: An Investigation Into the Nature of Consciousness and Form (1981) and Vedic Cosmography and Astronomy (1989), the series is currently presenting his third book, Parallels [Alien Identities]: Ancient Insights into Modern UFO Phenomena (1993).

There are many parallels between specific details in Vedic accounts of the behavior and powers of humanlike races that use flying machines and corresponding details in UFO close-encounter cases. These parallels provide my main impetus for writing this book.
— Richard Thompson, p. 4

Carefully researched and well written, Parallels is a major addition to ufological literature.
— Roger W. Wescott Professor of Anthropology & Linguistics, Drew University

For decades, researchers have exhaustively documented modern UFO phenomena, but questions remain about the origins of these strange objects and the intentions of the beings associated with them. In Parallels, Richard L. Thompson shows that answers may lie in the records of ancient civilizations claiming thousands of years of contact with races appearing to have an unearthly origin. Startling parallels between modern UFO accounts and events described in the ancient Sanskrit writings of India offer fresh insight into the nature of exotic incidents reported throughout human history.
PUBLISHER’S NOTE: This book was originally published as Alien Identities: Ancient Insights into Modern UFO Phenomena. The new title, Parallels, reflects the author’s original choice.
